The world in the dark - how night animals see

A real scorpion, fluorescent minerals and a fascinating thermal imaging camera - this year's Long Night of Munich Museums is all about the perception of nocturnal animals in the joint program of the Museum Mensch und Natur and BIOTOPIA. Experts from the museum and BIOTOPIA will be on hand, along with numerous stations where you can participate and try things out for yourself.

Which nocturnal animals are there? Why is the owl a true sensory wonder? And how are light and vision connected? During the community program, which takes place in the Museum Mensch und Natur, we will deal with these and many other questions about the optical perception of other creatures and learn, among other things, what our world looks like in UV or infrared light.

In addition, of course, the exhibition highlights of the museum, "classics" such as the popular wheel of fortune or geode cracking and insights into the concept of BIOTOPIA are waiting: All are invited to discover life!

Location: The community program for the Long Night will take place this year exclusively in the Museum Mensch und Natur, not in the BIOTOPIA Lab.

Time: This year the Long Night starts one hour earlier than usual and lasts from 6 pm to 1 am.

Ticket: Please note that admission to the Museum Mensch und Natur is only possible with a ticket for the Long Night of Munich Museums, which allows you to visit all houses. Ticket sales will be handled exclusively by a central and personalized ticket office. With this ticket, you can use all means of transport in Munich's public transport system (ÖPNV) within the MVV tariff area from 12 noon on Saturday, October 16, until 8 a.m. on Sunday, October 17. All information on transport connections HERE.

Tip for getting there: Use the special shuttle bus line 101 from Odeonsplatz to the Schloss Nymphenburg stop. The special line runs every 10 minutes on the section Odeonsplatz - Kunstareal - Schloss Nymphenburg - Olympiazentrum/BMW Museum - Oberwiesenfeld/BMW Group Classic.

Hygiene concept: The 3G rule applies. At the first house of your tour you have to prove that you are vaccinated, recovered or tested and then you will receive a "3G-Band". More info about this can be found HERE.
