++++++ SENSE Festival postponed to early summer 2022! The exact date will be announced soon. +++++

The BIOTOPIA SENSE Festival, originally scheduled for June 21, 2020, will be postponed until early summer 2022.

If the Corona situation allows, the Festival is expected to take place in June 2022. The entire team is working hard together with our partners, sponsors and contributors to continue the planning for the new festival date in early summer 2022. We will have follow up announcements in the near future.  Until then we ask for your patience and thank you very much for your understanding.

Both the ban on major events issued by the German and Bavarian governments and our concern for the safety of all people involved – contributors, organizers and visitors – make this step necessary.

After intensive months of curating and planning, we are looking forward to an exciting and unique program 2022 and the opportunity to welcome all of you at BIOTOPIA!

BIOTOPIA festivals are unique events that provide scientists, artists, designers and activists with an engaging opportunity to get into contact with each other and with a wide audience. Our program formats make it possible to experience sciences and arts with all senses. In the current situation, this form of getting together is not only difficult but dangerous for all participants. We want to do our part to contain the spread of the virus and the safety and well-being of our entire BIOTOPIA community is our highest priority.

Take care of yourself, your loved ones and your community and stay healthy!

About Sense - Biotopia Festival

How do different species sense the world? How do we perceive and interpret the world in our brain? How can we emulate and extend the senses?

SENSE will be an exciting multi-sensory experience where visitors’ knowledge about the senses will be challenged and extended. We are bringing together leading scientists, artists, designers, musicians, industry experts, innovators and the public to explore the highly individual experience of sensing in the stunning surroundings of Schloss Nymphenburg, offering a tantalizing variety of events suitable for all ages and all backgrounds.

This next BIOTOPIA Festival explores sensory perception from the intersectional and interspecies perspectives of biology, neurosciences, arts, design, and culture. It brings science, arts, design, industry, and multisensory experiences together and into conversation with the audience through a diverse program of activities with different levels of engagement.

SENSE is the third edition in the series of BIOTOPIA Festivals, leading up to the opening of the new museum. As a 21st-century museum of life sciences and the environment, BIOTOPIA aims to become a world-class destination for the under-standing and appreciation of nature, the promotion of science communication and the dialogue between art and science.
