The Museum Mensch und Natur and BIOTOPIA are always creating exciting new special exhibitions or bringing them to Bavaria. The exhibitions then tour the Free State, reaching an even larger audience. Exhibits, objects and research results from all over Bavaria are also shown in the Munich exhibitions. This strengthens the reciprocal visibility of the Bavarian network. BIOTOPIA as a stage for life and environmental sciences and the treasures of native nature throughout Bavaria!
Capturing the beauty, uniqueness and changeability of nature - that is the goal of the annual "Nature in Focus" photo competition, which sends children and young people between the ages of 7 and 18 on a photo safari through Bavaria. Each year, the winning pictures are first exhibited at the Museum Mensch und Natur and then go on tour throughout Bavaria.
Who would have guessed that a good 10 million years ago, four-meter-tall tusked elephants and saber-toothed cats roamed through a landscape of cinnamon trees and bald cypresses, and right on our doorstep? The Molassic Park exhibition invites you on an expedition into our Bavarian past - into the era of the Upper Freshwater Molasse. It is a joint exhibition of the Museum Mensch und Natur and the Botanical Garden Munich-Nymphenburg in cooperation with BIOTOPIA - Naturkundemuseum Bayern, the Bavarian State Collection of Paleontology and Geology and the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen.
Time determines our lives. We perceive as a matter of course how days, weeks, months and years pass - and become aware of the fact that our own lifetime is limited. Time is therefore something very everyday, something that directly affects us all and yet which we can only understand and explain with difficulty or not at all. In the exhibition "All the Time in the World", the Museum Mensch und Natur dedicates itself to this multifaceted topic and has been able to win over the well-known astrophysicist and science journalist Harald Lesch to accompany our visitors on their journey through time and space.
The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition has consistently been a crowd favorite at the Museum Mensch und Natur for many years. On display are the award-winning images from the nature photography competition of the same name, considered the largest and most prestigious of its kind and hosted annually by the Natural History Museum London. With a total of 100 fascinating images, the exhibition offers moving insights into the magnificent, diverse and sometimes dramatic natural world.
