Discovery fun and hands-on science for young and old is promised by the joint program of BIOTOPIA Lab and the Museum Mensch und Natur on International Museums Day on May 21, 2023. We look forward to your visit!
Getting to the root of the matter - in BIOTOPIA Lab (14:00- 16:45)
How do researchers use bones and teeth to study the eating and living habits of different animals and what do they learn from them? Feel the teeth of a sheep and hyena, look at the skull structure of an elephant and rhinoceros, and see the difference between carnivores and herbivores. How do they live - and how does that relate to our lifestyle?
What we know about dinosaurs - at the Mensch und Natur Museum (14:00-16:45).
Life-size replicas, fossils or graphic representations let us dive into the fascinating world of dinosaurs. How tall were they really? What did they eat? How did they live? Immerse yourself in the world of dinosaurs in the permanent exhibition "Evolution of Life" - dino mask making for children included.
Visit the earthquake simulator - in the foyer of the Mensch und Natur Museum (10:15-17:15, 15 min. after the hour)
Again and again we receive frightening reports of earthquakes and tsunamis. The shell structure of our earth shows the causes of these destructive movements. Why are such natural disasters so frequent in some regions of the world and how can we protect ourselves from them? If you want to experience what an earthquake feels like, you can do so in the earthquake simulator.
Max. 15 persons per date, children from 8 years.
