Dawn Chorus starts main collection period 2025

The main collection period of the citizen science project “Dawn Chorus” starts again on May 1st. The Naturkundemuseum Bayern with BIOTOPIA Lab and the LBV (Landesbund für Vogel- und Naturschutz) invite people all over the world to pause for a moment, experience, record and share the morning bird chorus on their own doorstep.

Using automated bird call recognition and advanced filters in the sound map, participants can find out even more precisely which bird species live in their neighborhood - and how the occurrence has changed in recent years. The recordings collected in the project form a valuable, growing database for biodiversity research. At the same time, Dawn Chorus offers various opportunities to get creative and thus represents a unique symbiosis of art and science. As in previous years, the project partners want to set a new record for the number of recordings collected worldwide in 2025.
